FaceCheck ID Review (2025)

FaceCheck ID Review

Are you planning to try out FaceCheck ID or in the process of shortlisting facial recognition tools? Well, FaceCheck ID is a powerful digital identity verification tool that uses facial recognition technology to authenticate people. You can use it for free, but for advanced and continuous searches, you have to purchase credits. Therefore, if you are wondering if it’s worth your time and money, then I am here to answer your question.

I spent months testing this tool, going through each of its features, checking reviews, verifying different images, etc. As a seasoned user with 15+ years of experience in facial recognition and reverse image lookup tools, I found it reliable enough for daily usage. However, it does have a few shortcomings, but that doesn’t stop it from going head-to-head with the top AI facial recognition search engine tools. To give you a conclusion on its performance rate, I shall discuss all of its features one by one, offering a transparent review.

FaceCheck ID Features

Let us now go through each of its features one by one.

Instant Facial Recognition

FaceCheck ID searches images within a minute in real time. I uploaded a photo of a target I met online regarding a collab ad to see if she was genuine. It took 18.1 seconds to find the results. This helped me uncover their social media links and other blogs where I found their images, thus verifying their legitimacy. The tool also showed me that it looked up 1,001,624,834 faces to find my result. However, not every image I looked up was this quick, as some individuals tend to maintain a low-key lifestyle online. In such cases, I suggest cross-checking with other tools.

Instant Facial Recognition

Comprehensive search

FaceCheck ID offers a comprehensive search that goes through every social media platform, blog, and website. You can simply click on the sources and go to the sites where the original image was found. However, only a paid membership can grant access to the links.

Comprehensive search

As a paid user, I found my target’s Instagram account by tapping on the IG icon and following the link in the result. This is quite useful for people looking to find someone’s social media or marketers who want to learn more about an influencer.

Comprehensive search

Video Search

One of the most advanced recognition features of FaceCheck ID is its ability to identify images from videos. The sources include Reels, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, etc. This helped me gather several details on people I looked up. For example, I found out that my person of interest was not only an IG model but also acted in French and Italian movies.

I followed the Facebook link as shown below:

Video Search

The FB link then led me to a Cannes Red Carpet interview of the person I looked up and found that particular YouTube short.

Video Search

This one time, I also found a YouTube news channel’s thumbnail of one of the individuals that I looked up. It was a video from when they were being interviewed about a robbery in their neighborhood. However, at times, you may notice slight color saturation differences in the videos, which is not a significant concern.

Match Certainty Level

The Match Certainty Level is an excellent way to find the right result for your image input. FaceCheck ID has four match ratings, with 90 to 100 being the most Certain Match, 83 to 89 being a Confident match, 70 to 82 being an Uncertain Match, and 50 to 69 being the Weak Match.

Match Certainty Level

I found several certain and confident matches. They were all accurate and were of the same person.

Match Certainty Level

However, some searches may not have Certain Match, but don’t worry; you will find accurate results even in lower-ranking match certainty images. It may not be the same image, but it will definitely be the same person’s different photos.

Automated Daily Search

This feature is for the higher plan users only. FaceCheck ID searches automatically for your person of interest every day and provides new images that appear on a daily basis. Therefore, your existing report will have new photos whenever something fresh is uploaded on the internet.

I usually found images once or twice a month, which kept me informed about where my new photos were appearing. This feature doesn’t require you to start from scratch. However, be cautious since you cannot remove the images from your search history if you want the automated daily search to work.

Identifies Red Flags

The tool offers a Red Flag warning indicator above the search result to help you find out if the individual has any criminal or suspicious background. It is especially helpful for people who are on dating apps and parents who want to ensure that their teens are not talking to a predator on social networks.

Identifies Red Flags

You will have to buy credits if that’s your intent. If you have already purchased a plan, you will find links to images in blogs and news articles. The types of red flags that you can expect are– criminal backgrounds, alias usage, fraudulent activity, and negative publicity, such as controversies.

For example, here’s what I found about the target individual whom I looked up.

Identifies Red Flags

These might not be as bad as criminal charges such as sexual offenses, arrests, DUI, etc. However, the above blogs do not help with his public image either. There are also cases where you will find information about their adult content online. In another scenario, some individuals’ mugshots could also be displayed, while others might be found on criminal lists from the most wanted people, etc. The best part is that FaceCheck even detects a fake profile that’s using an AI image.

Anonymous Search

FaceCheck ID does not notify the person about your Sherlock adventures, nor does it store the images in its database. All the search history is deleted within 24 hours unless you choose the continuous automated search option specifically.

Your IP address and HTTP access are not logged in. Hence, you won’t be tracked by any third parties or even Google and social networks. The tool is hosted only on their server, and no personal information is required to sign up and buy credits.

Child Protection

FaceCheck ID maintains a strict policy about searching for children online, i.e., individuals below 18. Its AI is trained solely on adult faces; hence, it cannot recognize kids. This is done to protect children from predators. However, if you do decide to look up their image, it may lead to a ban as it is against the terms of use.

Child Protection

User Privacy Assurance

Apart from anonymity and child safety, the user’s privacy is also maintained by FaceCheck ID. They do not collect, store, or sell any personally identifiable data that can be linked back to you. For example, names, phone numbers, and addresses. However, it does store and display low-resolution thumbnails and URL links to already publicly available third-party websites.

Moreover, all the information is protected even offline, and data is securely transmitted via SSL encryption. I also tested its Removal Request option, which helps remove your images from searches within a few steps.

Here’s how you can use the Remove Photos option:

Step 1) Use your picture to look it up.

Step 2) Now go to the top corner of the right-hand side and tap on Remove My Photos.

User Privacy Assurance

Step 3) Once you tap on it, you will be taken to a Delete My Photos from the FaceCheck ID page. Now, scroll down, upload your ID, and tap on Complete Removal Request.

User Privacy Assurance

This shall immediately hide your pictures. However, there’s a verification check done by the admin, which takes 1 to 5 business days, and once your ID is verified, your photos will be deleted permanently.

FaceCheck ID Pros and Cons

Here are the good and the bad that I came across while testing this tool:

Pros

  • I found the image removal quite reliable and easy. It is instant and lets you track the verification process, which is better than the DMCA takedown request.
  • They keep the right to not remove the photos of criminals to ensure public safety by making them aware of such individuals.
  • I received alerts via telegram whenever a new image was found.
  • It supports PDF and Excel sheets for exporting searches easily, so you can store them without a hassle.
  • FaceCheck ID provides extensions for all popular browsers for ease of use.

Cons

  • Newer or uncommon images, for example, who have recently signed up with social media platforms as they have come of age, might not have been updated on its database.
  • Unfortunately, a few harmless individuals have been flagged as a risk due to the AI’s limitation.
  • I wish direct support were available since no matter how in-depth its FAQ is, some queries remain unresolved.
  • At times, its accuracy might be affected by factors like lighting, angles, and image quality, which can lead to misidentification or errors.

Pricing

FaceCheck ID has five credit packages. The first package, known as Just Peek, offers 36 credits for $6, and the second, Rookie Sleuth, provides 150 credits for $19. Private Eye, the third and most popular plan, offers 400 credits for $47, then comes the Deep Investigator with 2000 credits for $197. The last and highest plan, known as The Professional, costs $597 and offers 10,000 credits.

The pricing mentioned is in terms of cryptocurrency, and each search costs 3 credits. Features like continuous search and Telegram alerts are available only in the higher plans, and you can export in PDF and Excel only in The Professional package.

Payment Options

It offers several payment options for purchasing the credits. You can use PayPal, Phantom, Coinbase, Venmo, Bitpay, CashApp and Skrill.

The payment confirmation ranges from 2 minutes to several hours. That’s because it depends on the crypto network’s traffic and the fee you have paid. Please be patient. If your transaction is stuck for several hours with zero confirmations, please read the “how to unstuck the cryptocurrency” tips on the FaceCheck ID’s website.

FaceCheck ID Alternatives

FaceCheck ID has some tough competitors, such as Social Catfish, Google Images, Bing Visual Search, and TinEye.

  • Social Catfish: It not only identifies similar images but also recognizes a face and verifies their identity. Social Catfish can dig up complete background details such as full name, age, address, occupation, social media profiles, court records, etc.
  • Google Images: This is one of the fastest reverse image lookup tools. It also offers an instant lookup with its Google Lens integration on smartphones. Additionally, it lets you crop the image and find variations on the go, which led me to the manipulated images of my uploaded photos.
  • Bing Visual Search: This is a tool similar to Google Images. However, their databases vary hence, you can use it when there’s no desired outcome by Google. Bing Visual Search can also identify the type of image uploaded, whether it is a picture of a photograph, statue, painting, etc.
  • TinEye: It can identify similar images, including manipulated images, for example, if the other site has changed the hair color, added accessories, edited the color grading, etc. Additionally, it offers continuous image tracking and even identifies if an image is a stock photo.

Here’s a table I created that will help you compare them with FaceCheck ID conveniently:

Resolving Common Issues of FaceCheck ID

Here are some common issues that you may come across while using FaceCheck ID, and I have also given their solutions:

Issue Solution
Inaccuracy It hardly happens with FaceCheck ID, but if it does, use a different image with better lighting and higher quality
Glitches and crashes Restart your device, close the browser, and reopen it
Delayed processing It’s a rare occurrence, but it could be due to your internet connection
Unsupported file It supports files like JPEG, PNG, and PDF. The files that are larger than the standard size might also not be supported at times. Convert and compress them to use it for FaceCheck ID

Ethical and Legal Concerns Of Using FaceCheck ID

Here are some of the ethical and privacy concerns of using FaceCheck ID:

  • Consent: Facial recognition tools usually work without the user’s consent. Therefore, confirm usage with local laws and make sure you have no harmful intent to avoid legal issues.
  • Unauthorized Surveillance: It can be used to monitor individuals without their knowledge, and there’s a chance of potential misuse. This can lead to mass surveillance and affect privacy and freedom.
  • Regulations: The laws surrounding facial recognition vary across jurisdictions. In some instances, it may not comply with state law or pass GDPR and CCPA regulations. Hence, checking local laws is always advised.
  • Criminal Investigations Without Approval: The Fourth Amendment in the US protects people from unlawful searches. Thus, using a tool such as FaceCheck ID, even by law enforcement without proper oversight, could be a violation of constitutional rights. Additionally, there’s also a risk of misidentification by the tool, which can lead to wrongful arrests and convictions.

FAQs

FaceCheck ID captures the user’s facial data and processes it using algorithms. Then, it matches the image against its database, bringing up results from the sites where the image appears. It also offers sites and platforms where the same facial data are found that include different pictures of the same person.

It offers high accuracy most of the time, but certain factors, such as extremely low resolution, poor lighting, and obstructed views, can affect performance. But usually even if the person has a lot of accessories in the image, it doesn’t really hinder FaceCheck ID’s search capability.

Benefits of using a FaceCheck ID include a people verification process, criminal identification, reduced fraud risk, uncovering illegal use of copyrighted images, and its overall instant search and user-friendliness.

The site offers a standardized API and extensive documentation with complete details. This helps developers integrate it smoothly with their security and identification systems.

Yes, since FaceCheck ID finds sites where the same uploaded image can be found by recognizing facial data, it doesn’t matter if it’s a side profile. It still brings up similar pictures and even different photos of the person, including their front-facing images.

Conclusion

To conclude, I’d say FaceCheck ID is quite a reliable tool. It may not offer a complete background check but includes a red flag identification process, which is definitely helpful. Its website claims that it doesn’t recognize faces and only brings up sites where the uploaded image’s similar facial data appears. However, I found it to be one of the quickest facial recognition tools. It doesn’t just dig up similar images but is robust enough to provide other photos + thumbnails of the same person, which is indeed impressive. Many tools claim an accurate reverse image lookup, but I have seen a good number struggling to give the desired results. However, FaceCheck ID delivers accuracy almost every time with just minimal hiccups.
