What is SAP MOLGA?

MOLGA (short for the German Molekularländergruppe, or “Country Grouping”) is the two-digit numeric key that SAP HCM uses to identify a country. Every country-specific configuration — payroll schema, tax model, infotype layout, time evaluation rules — is keyed by its MOLGA.

You will need a country’s MOLGA whenever you run a country-specific transaction. For example, the generic payroll transaction is PC00_M<XX>_CALC, where XX is the country’s MOLGA. The transaction to run payroll for Russia (MOLGA = 33) is PC00_M33_CALC; for Spain (MOLGA = 04) it is PC00_M04_CALC.

Notes on the list: SAP preserves legacy entries such as Swaziland (renamed Eswatini in 2018) and the Dutch Antilles (dissolved in 2010; ISO code AN retired in 2011) so existing payroll and historical data continue to reconcile. MOLGA 59 was never released; numbering jumps from 58 to 60.

To view the MOLGA-to-country mapping directly from the SAP system, query the standard table T500L.

  1. Open transaction SE16N (general table display).
  2. Enter table name T500L and press Enter.
  3. Optionally restrict by the MOLGA field, then execute (F8).
