What is BI Content?

BI Content provides selected roles within a company with the information they need to carry out their tasks. SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse delivers pre-configured objects under the collective term BI Content. For example, a sales manager who wants information such as sales, market share, product quality, and service cost to make effective decisions can use a BI Content role that brings all this data together as workbooks and queries carrying exactly the information needed, while no sensitive or confidential HR information is shown.

BI Content is delivered by SAP in a D (delivered) version that you activate into an A (active) version. Custom objects are built by the customer. Activated content can be used as-is or customized to any degree of detail.

During activation, Match (X) merges delivered content with any existing active version, preserving local changes, while Copy overwrites the active version with the delivered one. Choosing correctly prevents losing custom modifications.

Yes. The SAP Joule AI copilot and intelligent tooling can recommend the right BI Content objects, explain dependencies, and answer activation questions in natural language, helping teams deploy standard content faster and with fewer mistakes.

Machine learning can profile source data, suggest InfoObjects and key figures, and flag inconsistencies before activation. In SAP Datasphere and Analytics Cloud, AI further recommends models and surfaces insights from the loaded content.
